When released from the military, our veterans deal with a myriad of issues.  Among the day to day challenges are physical and mental struggles, securing employment and housing, as well as making the often difficult transition to civilian life.  As a result, many become homeless or find themselves unable to interact and move forward in their new lives.

Our concept is simple:  create and operate a wholly self-sustaining green ranch , one which will provide food, housing, and jobs for our veterans.   The resultant security, sense of accomplishment, and pride, among other benefits, will get them back on their feet living the life of proud military men and women.

Gradual steps to sustainable independence.

Our Vision

According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, "40,056 veterans are homeless on any given night. Veterans need a coordinated effort that provides secure housing, nutritional meals, basic physical health care, substance abuse care and aftercare, mental health counseling, personal development and empowerment. Additionally, veterans need job assessment, training and placement assistance."  Our vision at Veteran Hands Farm and Ranch is to build, create and operate a wholly self-sufficient green farm/ranch property utilizing veterans which will house, feed, provide revenue and support over 50+ veterans who were previously unable to live independently.

We need you.

Our team has been diligently searching for an accessible and appropriate site to develop this dream into a reality, and we have identified one such property in North Texas.  Improvements already present on the site include an airport where veteran pilots will be able to teach aspiring fliers, an area to house horses for equine therapy, as well as an area well-suited for a produce market.  In addition…(soil quality, land characteristics, existing buildings, etc)

Our fundraising plan is divided into 3 phases: first to acquire the land (estimated at $7M), second to develop the property, and third to establish an operating endowment to keep the operations moving smoothly.

In phase one, our goal is to raise $7M to buy the identified property.  We are seeking wide involvement from donors of all sizes to show our veterans the breadth of community committed to enhancing their lives and seeing them living well and independently.

Your ongoing support is urgently needed.

Come be part of Veteran Hands.
